We focus on the development of sustainable, green processes for fine chemicals production with the use of modern catalysts.

 In particular, our expertise includes:

  • Heterogeneous catalysis with the use of ionic liquids immobilized on solid supports (silica, CNTs)
  • Homogenous catalysis with the use of ionic liquids
  • Synthesis and characterization of novel ionic liquids
  • Use of ionic liquids as acidic catalysts in such processes as Baeyer-Villiger oxidation (including asymmetric variation), Friedel Crafts alkylation, Diels-Alder cycloaddition, Fischer esterification, Beckmann rearrangement

A toolbox with new ionic liquids discovered in our group includes:

Chrobok Group
  • Peroxymonosulphate ionic liquids used as oxidation agents in the synthesis of lactones;
  • Hydrogen-bond-rich ionic liquids used as effective organocatalysts for Diels-Alder reaction;

Acidic ionic liquids:

  • Protic ionic liquids based on nitrogen bases and sulfuric acid with anionic clusters as Brønsted acidic catalysts for esteryfication;
  • Triflometallate ionic liquids as Lewis acidic catalysts in the chromane syntheses and for for the conversion of a-angelica lactone to levulinates;

Peroxymonosulphate ILs

A new method for the rapid synthesis of lactones via one-pot oxidation of alcohols with peroxymonosulphate was developed.
