During Researchers’ Night 2026 at the Silesian University of Technology, our group engaged visitors of all ages through three hands-on science activities! We were honored to welcome Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Rector of the University, who visited our laboratory and expressed keen interest in the demonstrations and discussions prepared by our team. Together with Prof. Anna Chrobok, he encouraged children, teenagers, and their families to discover the fascinating world of science and innovation.

During Beautylab Makers: DIY for Body and Senses, Led by Dr. Siewniak and Dr. Wolny, participants discovered the science behind cosmetics by creating their own balms, scrubs, and creams while learning about emulsions, oils, fragrances, and skincare ingredients.

Beautylab Makers: DIY for Cars, Led by Dr. Latos was an opportunity to introduce the chemistry of automotive care products. Participants prepared simple cleaning and protection formulations and explored how their composition affects performance and properties.

We were also present in the main building of the New Technologies Center, where visitors had the opportunity to explore thermal energy storage technologies during an activity led by Dr. Alina Brzęczek-Szafran and members of the Student Scientific Chemistry Circle. Participants learned about thermal energy storage, thermal batteries, and advanced materials capable of storing and releasing heat, gaining insight into their importance for energy efficiency and sustainability. The interactive demonstration stand was developed as part of the Od cząsteczki do galaktyki project, funded by the ORLEN Foundation, whose support enabled students to create educational activities and promote scientific knowledge in materials science and energy storage.

All these activities were made possible thanks to our wonderful students, who helped prepare the exhibits, workshops, and educational materials, and actively supported their delivery throughout the event!

We thank all participants for their curiosity, enthusiasm, and active involvement. It was a fantastic opportunity to share science with the community and demonstrate that science can be both engaging and fun!
